A humanitarian and development organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities in Nigeria. We provide emergency aid, healthcare, education, protection, and livelihood programs to restore dignity, save lives, and empower people for a better future.
The ALF Foundation is a non-profit, humanitarian and development organization committed to restoring dignity, saving lives, and building resilience among vulnerable communities in Nigeria and beyond.
Founded in response to the growing humanitarian needs in conflict-affected and underserved areas, ALF began as a grassroots movement providing emergency aid, healthcare, and education to displaced and marginalized populations. Over time, it evolved into a fully registered organization with a strong presence in the North-East of Nigeria, while expanding its reach to other regions in crisis.
We work hand-in-hand with local communities, authorities, and international partners to design and implement sustainable programs that uphold human dignity, equity, and accountability. At ALF, we believe that no one should be left behind, regardless of background, gender, or circumstance.
ALF Foundation addresses critical humanitarian and development needs through five key program areas. Our interventions are holistic and community driven, designed not only to save lives in emergencies but also to build long-term resilience. We focus on the most vulnerable women, children, youth, displaced persons, and marginalized groups ensuring that they have access to the resources, services, and opportunities they need to live with dignity.
At ALF Foundation, we respond swiftly to crises with life-saving interventions that restore hope and dignity to affected populations. Our humanitarian response includes emergency food distribution to fight hunger, provision of temporary shelters and essential non-food items to displaced families, as well as access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services. We also work on disaster risk reduction and preparedness programs, ensuring that vulnerable communities are better equipped to withstand future shocks.
Health is at the center of human dignity, and ALF is committed to ensuring that vulnerable groups, especially women and children, have access to quality healthcare. Through mobile health clinics and outreach programs, we reach remote and underserved communities with essential medical services. We deliver maternal, newborn, and child healthcare, support disease prevention and surveillance, and raise public awareness on health education. In addition, we provide mental health and psychosocial support to promote healing and well-being among survivors of conflict and trauma.
Education is a pathway to empowerment and resilience, and ALF Foundation works to ensure that every child and young person has access to inclusive and equitable learning opportunities. We support both formal and non-formal education, rehabilitate schools and learning spaces damaged by conflict or disaster, and equip teachers with training that strengthens their ability to deliver quality education. To further remove barriers, we provide learning materials and educational support to children and youth, particularly those affected by displacement and poverty.
We believe that protection and the defense of human rights are non-negotiable in humanitarian action. ALF Foundation safeguards the dignity of individuals at risk by preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV), ensuring survivors have access to support services and safe spaces. Our child protection interventions include case management, family tracing, and reunification, while psychosocial support and legal aid are made available to vulnerable groups. Working with local communities, we also strengthen protection mechanisms that create safer environments where rights are respected and upheld.
Breaking the cycle of dependency is central to our mission, and ALF Foundation is deeply invested in helping individuals and communities achieve economic self-reliance. We provide vocational skills training and apprenticeship programs that open pathways to sustainable employment. Small enterprise grants and income-generating initiatives give families the opportunity to rebuild their livelihoods, while agricultural input support and climate-smart farming practices promote food security and resilience. We also implement both conditional and unconditional cash transfers to enable vulnerable households to meet their basic needs with dignity.
In regions affected by conflict and displacement, building peace is as critical as providing aid. ALF Foundation works to strengthen social cohesion and promote peaceful coexistence among diverse groups. We facilitate community dialogues, mediation, and conflict-resolution initiatives that foster trust and reconciliation. Our programs engage youth, women, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders to prevent violence, reduce tensions, and create safe spaces for inclusive participation. By addressing root causes of conflict—such as poverty, exclusion, and marginalization—we contribute to lasting peace and stability, ensuring that communities can heal, rebuild, and thrive together.
At ALF Foundation, our mission is to restore dignity, save lives, and build resilience by advancing health, education, protection, livelihoods, and peace for vulnerable and underserved populations. We are committed to inclusive and sustainable development that leaves no one behind, guided by compassion, equity, and accountability in every action we take.
